Beginning in Fall 2024, Heidelberg University now offers a Computer Science endorsement (K-12) taught by campus-based full-time and adjunct faculty. Courses required for this endorsement are also offered online in condensed, asynchronous 8-week sessions.
This educator endorsement option allows you to teach computer science content and courses in grades K-12.
The required four courses, one of which includes a field experience, are offered online in condensed 8-week terms.
About Our Educator Endorsement Program
Computer Science Endorsement
Obtain the Computer Science Endorsement by completing four courses (12 credit hours) online in eight-week terms. K-12 teachers and Heidelberg education majors are eligible to apply to the program. Passing the OAE Computer Science (054) test is required to complete the endorsement.
Required courses:
• CPS 150 – Fundamentals of Computer Science
• CPS 201 – Computational Problem Solving
• DAT 305 – How to Think Like a Data Scientist – or –
• CPS 316 –Spreadsheet Modeling
• EDU 395 – Computer Science Methods and Field Experience
Resources
Official transcripts must be issued directly to Heidelberg from the granting institution. Any transfer courses must also be accompanied by an official transcript. If you will not graduate before the admission deadline, we will accept an unofficial copy for Admission purposes only. An official transcript will be required prior to program completion.
A copy of your Teaching License must be uploaded to your application.

Heidelberg is approved by the Ohio Department of Higher Education and the National Council for State Authorization Reciprocity Agreements to accept students from all states, except for California. Non-Ohio teachers looking to add an endorsement to licensure should inquire with their state regulating official about coursework meeting state guidelines.
This program is designed to meet educational requirements for professional license or certification, which is required for employment in occupations related to this major. Please refer to this list regarding whether Heidelberg's program meets licensure requirements for specific states.
